Join HZ University of Applied Sciences as an International Student Officer and help us grow the HZ’s international community which is currently made up of around 800 students from over 100 different countries.

Your role

As an International Student Officer, your main objective is to inform and engage prospective international students as they explore the opportunities available at HZ. You will promote our English-taught programmes through a mix of in-person and digital outreach, connecting with prospective students and partner organisations of HZ across diverse international markets.

You will:

  • Represent HZ at education fairs, school visits, and networking events abroad, often in partnership with other Dutch higher education institutions
  • Organise and support recruitment activities such as international school tours, online webinars, and campus visits
  • Provide tailored information to international prospects and identify key influencers in their decision-making process
  • Collaborate with your team to ensure a seamless follow-up of international leads and share insights that help shape the overall recruitment strategy by working on related projects, such as market analyses on (focus) countries; and assisting in managing relationships with external partners
  • Travel internationally up to 10–12 times per year, primarily between September–November and February–April. Trips often include weekends and intensive schedules
  • Report your activities and results to the team coordinator, contributing to data-driven improvements in recruitment efforts.

The team

You’ll be part of the International Student Recruitment Team which consists of 4 other colleagues within the Team Marketing & Recruitment. This sub team is part of Marketing, Communication, Community & Internationalisation department. This close-knit, driven, and supportive team works collaboratively and we value professionalism, teamwork, and having fun while working toward a shared goal.

You’re proactive, culturally sensitive, and thrive in fast-paced environment and take pride in delivering high-qualify work under pressure. You’re a strong communicator, comfortable presenting, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively. You understand that this role requires flexibility and doesn't always follow a standard 9-to-5 schedule. You are ready to adapt to changing demands, including frequent international travel.

You also have:

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree (e.g. Marketing, Communication, International Business).
  • At least 3 years of experience in marketing, recruitment or account management within an international context (experience in higher education is a plus).
  • Excellent command of the English and Dutch, both spoken and written (additional languages such as French, German or Spanish are a bonus).

  • A gross monthly salary between € 3.233,14 and € 4.376,46 (scale 8 according to CLA HBO) for full-time employment depending on your work experience and qualifications;
  • 8.3% end-of-year payment, 8% holiday pay and possibly a contribution towards travel and/or working from home expenses;
  • Approximately 53 holidays if you work full time;
